Understanding Your Worth

We live in a world that puts a label on everything - especially people. These labels tend to causes us to doubt ourselves and reduce our awareness of our full potential.
These tips will help you understand your worth:
Understand Your Worth:

If you lost your legs in an accident, but got $5 million for it, would it be a fair trade?  Probably not. If you lost your health, then your life, would your life insurance compensate your family for their loss? I guarantee it won't! Your worth cannot be measured with a dollar figure because your value exceeds money. In fact, Jesus placed a value on us that is equivalent to himself!1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Respect & Value Yourself:

It is human nature to want others to love and value us. But, before that can be achieved, we must first love and value ourselves. The best way is by visiting your doctor and dentist for your regular check-ups. Another way to care for yourself is to always be well groomed and hygienically sound; this shows others that you respect yourself. Another way is to dress well. One of my quotes is "You have to dress, for the respect, you expect, from others"! When you show love and respect to yourself (your body), you will gain the respect of others. We were created in God's image, we ought not to corrupt ourselves by reimaging ourselves. Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Habitual Living:

Habitual living is to do something continually. It's a lifestyle choice that you don't let anyone interfere with. This means you set apart time when you know that you won't be bothered by anyone. The goal is the lifestyle, not the end result. The secret to this is to always pursue your goal as though it is unattainable - even if you've reached it! Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Heed Words of Wisdom:

You may be skeptical of others who do not hold the same beliefs as you. Be open-minded to new ideas that challenge you to new schools of thought. There is a lot of life-changing wisdom to benefit from that will move you to a higher way of thinking and living. When you are wise, you can't be fooled, you will be in a better position to guide those who have been misguided. Job 12:16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

Mountain Climbing:

No one starts at the top, but to get to the top you must take it step by step.

Success begets success one success at a time. Truthfully, the "top of the mountain" is only a concept. It is clearly up to you to find satisfaction on every level you achieve during each step you take towards any goal. Job 39:8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.

Give Back:

What you do for others you do for yourself. What you speak unto others you speak unto yourself. Use your words to build others and that affirmation automatically returns back to you. Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Hold Yourself Accountable:

Holding yourself accountable means you manage your work and relationships with integrity by accepting the results of your decisions. Then you make the necessary adjustments to ensure better (future) outcomes for yourself, your work and how you affect those around you.

The benefits of holding yourself accountable are:

  • You increase in strength.
  • You increase in your abilities.
  • You increase in self-awareness.
  • You increase in self-confidence.
  • You increase in knowledge.
  • Your relationships improve.
  • You gain the confidence of others.
  • You gain the respect of others.
Even though the benefits are reason enough to hold yourself accountable, many people faulter in this area. Those who are aware that their actions may be less than favorable may appoint an 'accountability partner'. Those who don't will either receive feedback (taking it constructively) or criticism (taking it as a personal attack). The difference is solely based on your desire to become a better person...or not!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Keep Kill-Joy's Away:

Surround yourself with positive and uplifting people. There is enough negativity and nay-sayers who will drag you down and hold you there. Keep such people and their negative words out of your heart. Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Affirm Yourself:

Make a list of all your positive attributes and build on them. Be confident in who God made you to be, and remember what you've overcome. Your thoughts and words towards yourself should always be of self-acceptance. Show yourself kindness with your words and actions and never ever call yourself down. Isaiah 43:4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

Forsake the Media:

Your life happens when you are out there "living, doing and participating".

This is an important part of discovering your self worth. TV and the media will have  ideas of self-worth for you to purchase but it's not something you can buy. If the value of your life surpasses a dollar figure, why would you ever assume something of monetary value can add to your self worth? Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Turn Setbacks into Springboards:

With every disadvantage, comes an equal advantage. Habits of successful people is going from failure to failure without losing momentum and determination. Each time you fail you take knowledge to the next round. Remember what I said in Habitual Living? Pursue each goal as though you are at a disadvantage; then you will have the advantage! Isaiah 41:3 He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

Confidence is the Sexiest Quality:

"...and this year's sexiest man and woman is_____!"

Of course this is always determined by the media who measures what sexy is from a physical point of view and only for viewing pleasure. Let the truth be told, there is nothing sexier than confidence and those who elude it. They carry an invisible radiance that makes them so attractive. It's a mystery that has nothing to do with looks. Psalm 94:19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Have Faith:

Faith is the unseen evidence of things to come. A lot of folks mistake faith for hope. They are different. Hope is more of a "wanting" where as faith is knowing that certain things are on your way. It's all in how you believe and the proof of why you believe. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

You Belong:

Whether you join a gym, a church, sports or support group or go to a day spa, take your place and do not allow yourself to be intimidated by others.

You have every right to get out there get and involved. and don't ever allow yourself to feel inferior for any reason! If yo are reading this then you need to know that God put you here because You Belong!  Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Health & Fitness:

It’s no secret that people who eat healthy and are physically fit have more stamina than those who don't. Aside from being happier in general the psychological and biological advantages of a healthy lifestyle builds and maintains quality of life. As people created in God's image, we too take pleasure when we take on an active lifestyle. Psalm 111:2 The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

Your Worth:

The world didn't give you your worth, so the world can't take it away. Remember this the next time you feel the need to buy into the lie that a certain product or procedure will help you achieve perfection. Your worth is measured by the love that our Heavenly Father used to form you, characterize you and save you! 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
