Circadian Rhythm

Image
Your circadian rhythm is an accurate chronograph of your body. It is responsible for scheduling energy during the day, and rest at night. Thanks to its functionality, it is responsible for regulating cortisol levels, melatonin levels, red blood cells, metabolism, body temperature, and more.  Unregulated circadian rhythms can lead you to feel tired all the time, and reduce your cognitive ability. When prolonged, it can weaken your immune system, cause premature aging, weight gain, anxiety, depression, and leave you feeling unwell. Light and darkness play a crucial role in circadian rhythm because it affects the health of your brain. When it gets dark; the brain (pineal gland) releases melatonin. When we are exposed to lights from from devices (tv's, tablets and cell phones), we disrupt our natural sleep cycle. Our circadian rhythm can also be affected by late dinners. Studies show us that if we eat/drink late in the day, we delay the brain from secreting melatonin. Not onl...

Thriving or Surviving?

The phrase  home is where the heart is to be considered a place with where one has a strong emotional connection, and regards it as home — according to it's original author. Sure, your living space should be desirable, but I have seen too many people deny themselves comforts outside of it. There are beautiful places and beautiful faces that one misses out on as they take up their lives inside their chambers. The more you add — or invite into your life will make a HUGE impact on it. They say you only need that one friend that will stand by your side in all circumstances. I disagree. I believe you need one friend in every faucet of your life—to encourage it's "flow". That friend doesn't need to be your BFF—it can be your friend for just that one activity. The more you get involved, the more connections you will enjoy. If "home is where the heart is," you need to develop yours—so others can make that strong emotional connection with you. That is the dif...

The Escapist

It's common when you are under stress to visit your "happy place" — but this is only a temporary measure to get you over a slump — or get you through a public speaking event. Staying in your fantasy world will interfere with your relationships, responsibilities and mental well-being. You will know if you are at risk if you: 1) repeat failures 2) avoid responsibility 3) have no team-working skills 4) are unreliable/unavailable 5) work on projects that don't matter (pay) 6) lie about achievements 7) pull others into your fantasy world 8) unable to leave your fantasy world (True story) I know of someone who robbed his employer of thousands of dollars worth of material to complete a house he was having built. After the attempt to be served (sued—he lost everything), he fled across the country, then became a church pastor—a year later! He remained the same person on the inside, but took on a new identity to suit how he wanted to be esteemed. (It is unfortunate that some ca...

For The Better

Image
With each New Year, we attempt to reinvent ourselves. Some of us are fortunate to have events throughout the year that change us for the better; but, it's the official 'beginning of the year' where one attempts to make resolution... The purpose of resolutions is to 'resolve issues' so your problems don't follow you into the new year. There are things we cannot change — which are: Injustice — life is unfair. We don't get what we want. Inflation — the cost of living will never stop increasing. Aging — every day you look in the mirror, you notice new signs of aging. Pain — Physical pain often goes with aging; Emotional pain goes with inability to handle unfortunate events. Others — Most people wish they can change others above all else — and those type of people are controlling & manipulative. Now, there are things we can change — which are: Injustice — When we see injustice, or a wrong committed, we take a stand against the wrong done! Inflation — Evaluate...

11 Ways To Become "Outcome Oriented"

Image
In this fast-paced life we live, we are prone to be focused on the task more than the outcome' however, it's the outcome that is the compass of our success.  This blog is dedicated to help you become more 'outcome oriented' as opposed to just achieving tasks and meeting deadlines. 1. Cause and effect! ↳ With every action, there is an equivalent reaction; both instant and delayed. Take a piece of your favorite fruit for example; you take a bite. It's delicious! Your reaction is pleasant and you become satisfied. Then there is the delayed reaction; it's vitamin, mineral and antioxidant content supports your system—that leads to a healthier you. Now, take mozza sticks, they too are delicious—but after you've eaten them, the delayed outcome is a sluggish feeling. 2. Have clear goals. ↳ Not only do you need clear goals, you need to have the intention on making them your reality. When I was young, I always wanted to be a business woman. I needed a plan to become h...
