The world sets the standard of happiness to ones level of pleasure or enjoyment. Now understand this: the world also sets the standard for pleasure and enjoyment!!! If you follow after the world's example in pursuit of happiness, your head must be literally spinning because you are going nowhere! The world doesn't decide on your happiness or enjoyment, and when you are influenced by the world, you are under their control!

For those who are aware of mind-control, you can easily identify how this leads to one feeling defeated; then feeling the need to 'find themselves'. When you fall for the worlds trickery, you'll end up going down a never-ending path of destruction - chasing what I'd like to call - your pipe-dream.

For the majority, in order to have happiness, you have to have good-fortune or the finances to support what you require for pleasure. The great news is, if  you are seeking actual happiness, it's free - and the best part is you don't lose yourself, but you actually find yourself along the way.

In the Bible, Happiness means to have wisdom, righteousness, taking correction and placing your trust in the LORD. You may question why this is true happiness? Well, being void of these virtues puts you in conflict or in disagreement with yourself (Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;).

I performed a keyword search for the word happy in the KJV; 25 verses came up; here are 17 of them showing us how to truly be happy:

  • Deuteronomy 33:29 Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
  • 1 Kings 10:8 Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.
  • Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
  • Psalm 127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
  • Psalm 128:2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
  • Psalm 144:15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.
  • Proverbs 14:21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
  • Proverbs 16:20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.
  • Proverbs 28:14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
  • Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
  • Jeremiah 12:1 Righteous art thou, O Lord, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
  • John 13:17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
  • Romans 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
  • James 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
  • 1 Peter 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
  • 1 Peter 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Whether your Christian or part of the pagan world, people's happiness is tied to their sense of belonging - after all that is what people long for. Each of these Bible verses shows you how much you belong to the Family of Jesus. The more you obey God and find yourself engaged in His Word, the deeper sense of belonging you have.

This sums up the difference between worldly happiness and Biblical happiness.

True happiness (Joy) is only found in the LORD.

God Bless
