The Special People

When I was a child —I called those who were rich, "special people".

The "special people" never seemed to have any problems...

Their kids were always happy, well dressed; their fathers ran successful businesses— their mothers were involved in the community, and family unity was always encouraged.

There wasn't a fake thing about them — they just lived...

They went on vacation, lived in big houses, drove the best vehicles—and their kids never had to walk to school.

They were surrounded by friends and family—held feasts, and their kids never went hungry.

When their kids asked for something, they never heard the word "no"; they got everything they wanted.

They never went to school with bruises on their backs—or lived with the effect of unkind words spoken. They never suffered neglect—or the difficulty of their parent(s) favoring one child over another.

They were into sports with their parents present—cheering them on.

They grew up to marry great spouses, buy houses and have memberships to club-houses...

It was as though 'life' worked in their favor all the time.

A few months ago—I got a surge of norepinephrine, and I, for the first time, felt like I was one of the special people.

As I turn 54 this week, I have written 54 reasons why I am one of the special people.

The fact is we all live the life we created for ourselves—whether it's a meadow—or a dirt-hole.

This is the path I have chosen for myself. Sure I lost people along the way—but they were toxic and sucked the life out of me—and I'd rather die of exhaustion from a life well lived. Wouldn't you?

What makes you feel special? I'd like to know - feel free to reach out 😊
